General Personality:
Cyrus has a very determined personality that sometimes causes him to act rash. He'll act first and think about it later which is part of the reason that he became a genie in the first place. He'll put in one hundred and ten percent when it comes to protecting those he cares for which he's demonstrated when trying to save his mother. He's very good a conning people, which he'd done often in the past through card games and tavern tricks. He considered his actions to be harmless fun. (Until, of course, his mother was punished for his actions.)
Despite the fact that he's been lonely, forced to grant the wishes of others for over one hundred years, he's still has a kind heart. He still warns those about the consequences of his wishes and dislikes it every time something happens to go south. He'd never thought happiness was possible for him until he'd met Alice. His love for her runs deep, and he will do anything to protect her even though he knows she's plenty strong enough to take care of herself. Cyrus even believes her to be stronger than himself. Since finding Alice, his personality has brightened. Though he's still bound to the shackles of being a genie, he's begun to see light at the end of the tunnel for himself. As long as Alice keeps her promise not to set him free from her, he's sure he can find happiness.
Cyrus is a quick thinker and very creative in the ways of fighting. He's skilled and knows how to handle himself. He's not too bad at predicting the moves of his opponents. Back in Agrabah, before he was cursed, he was often getting into brawls with people over his foolish actions which he considered harmless fun. He was very good at making drunken men make fools of themselves. He's beginning to find his playful personality again that he had back then, though years of being trapped in a bottle have made him a bit more stern.

Fairy Tale History & Getting To Storybrooke:
Cyrus was born in Agrabah with two older brothers. He had a relatively normal childhood. His mother was always kind to her children, looking out for them and wanting what was best. It was rare that Cyrus had ever experienced loneliness, always having two brothers around to keep him company. They boys were a bit reckless at times, but all in all they were a decently happy family who never expected the things that were in their future.
Eventually, Cyrus gained a bit of a gambling issue later on in life. In became one of his hobbies, and his brothers seemed to praise him for all the winning he happened to do. Occasionally some bad things would happen where others would accuse him of cheating and such, but he never really let it take away from his winning pride.
One day, after a fight almost breaks out with the owner of a tavern Cyrus was playing his gambling games in, the own told him that he was going to pay for what he'd done. Finding it to be an empty threat, the brothers thought nothing of it and returned home. Unfortunately, when they had later that night, they find their house had been set on fire. The fire left Cyrus's mother, Amara, burned so badly that it was unlikely that she'd survive.
Wanting to do anything to save his mother, Cyrus then decided to convince his brothers that they should go travel to the Well of Wonders. The water was said to have magical healing powers. At the well, they met Nyx, who is like it's guardian. She told that that her water can't be used to heal those who are meant to die, like their mother. Caring too much about his mother to let that happen, Cyrus stole some of the water anyways. Nyx then told Cyrus and the brothers that if they do not return the water to the well, they would pay the price. Desperate to save his mother, Cyrus ignored her. He felt as though it was fault she was in her condition due to the trouble he had caused at the tavern.
When the brothers had returned home and used the water on their mother, it was successful. She was healed by the power the water possessed. When Rafi told his mother how they had obtained the water, she got frantic and pleaded with them to leave before Nyx could find them. Unfortunately, by the time she was saying that, it was already too late. Nyx appeared and trapped all three of the brothers in lamps and turned them into genies. Their punishment had been to forever serve others, granting their wishes.
One hundred years later, after countless people had obtained his bottle, Cyrus began to learn about a man with a serpent staff that was looking to obtain his bottle for power. One day, when his bottle landed in the hand of another man, Cyrus warned him of the man with the serpent staff since he had been getting closer to him. The man still uses two of his wishes to gain a lot, which only makes the sorcerer even more suspicious of the situation. When the sorcerer, Jafar, finally showed up, the man panicked. Cyrus offered his help, but the man wasn't listening to him again. Instead, his uses his last wish to send Cyrus away. With that, he went back into his bottle.
Cyrus's bottle ended up in a maze in a land called Wonderland where it remained hidden for some time. That is, until a young women by the name of Alice entered his bottle. She told him that if she revealed where she was, she was going to grow big and shatter his bottle. Cyrus smiled at her, finding her to be rather amusing right off the bat. The two started talking, and eventually Alice explained to him that she's in Wonderland to find proof of it's existence. She showed him the white rabbit that had been in her bag. She told him that she needed the proof for her father. Saddened by this, Cyrus told her that when you really love someone, proof isn't necessary and it's all about trusting in one's own belief. Shortly after, Cyrus told her that since she opened his bottle, she now had three wishes.
Outside of his bottle, Cyrus gave Alice three red jewels and explained the restrictions on her three wishes. She then brought up the possibility of freeing him, but Cyrus convinced her not too seeing all all magic came with a price. The bigger the wish, the bigger the consequence.
Alice and Cyrus then began to spend time together. The two bonded over stories, and eventually Cyrus began to teach her swordplay when she requested to be taught. The two then sparred, and eventually Cyrus stole away her sword and told her she had to be creative. To his surprise, her creative tactic ended up being her kissing him which Cyrus found himself returning. Something ignited within him in that moment.
Later on, after Cyrus and Alice bond through more adventures, the two end up at the boiling sea. There, Cyrus begins to propose to her. However, Alice accepts before he can even begin to go into the speech he had planned for her. There happy moment is interrupted when the Red Queen and her guards show up. Cyrus and Alice fight, but their efforts fail. The Red Queen pushed Cyrus off of the cliff they were on with her magic.
As Cyrus was falling and looking up at his love for what he thought would be the very last time, he felt the magic flowing through his veins. Alice had wished for something. She'd wished for them to be someplace safe. He wanted to yell to her and tell her to stop, knowing that all wishes had consequences, but was unable to. After granting her wish, Cyrus had appeared in the middle of a street in a very strange town. The town was called Storybrooke, and the world around him was completely different and unknown. The magic inside of him felt nonexistent. He looked around, frantically trying to find Alice, but unfortunately the two had become separated. Now his goal was to find her.
