hands of time DAY AFTER DAY, LIKE A LIFETIME AWAY, I KEEP HOLDIN' ON Graham had the first day in a long while off of work. Possibly because he hired a new deputy who was on duty now and he wasn’t needed. Normally he would work anyways because he had nothing else to do, mostly because Regina was at work and she wasn’t available to provide a distraction (and funnily enough, Graham never really wanted to be with her unless she wanted to be with him). However, today was different. He was driving to work planning on working today, when a giant white wolf appeared in front of his car. Naturally he swerved out of the way and got out to investigate. But the wolf ran off. Like the idiot he was, or rather because he felt some sort of pull, he gave chase. He ran through the forest, past the well, into the cemetery, following the white wolf with different color eyes as if it were calling him, showing him where he needed to go. He stopped in front of a mausoleum, and stared for a moment. He could hear the pounding of his heart in his ears, engulfing every sense. He could feel something pulling him, pulling him closer to the grave house with… Regina’s father. Yes, it was Regina’s father’s tomb. Why was it pulling him here? Where did the wolf go? Did he even care where the wolf was now? The pounding in his ears was getting more and more powerful, he took slow steady steps towards the tomb, reaching his hand out, the pounding getting louder and louder and louder. It hurt. The pull from his chest, tugging him closer and closer, the pounding in his ears it was becoming unbearable, but yet he couldn’t seem to stop himself. He kept making slow deliberate steps, almost feeling the sweat beading up on his forehead, dripping down. Hold on, he wasn’t sweating… That was all in his head. The pounding was making him slightly delusional as he was lost in a sort of trance. His hand made contact with the door’s surface and he stared for several moments the pounding slowly dying down. His breath was ragged and he blinked a couple times in order to moisten his eyes as he hadn’t blinked since he gave chase to the wolf. His heart was slowly slowing down and he was starting to regain some sense. What the hell happened to him? 400 WORDS |

Like always the young woman finished her regular routine, one in which had never ceased to change. Every morning she got up and went to the diner at 7:15, so that she could catch a glimpse of someone though she tried to deny it whenever the subject came up. Since the one she went to see, David Nolan, was married and only came into Granny's diner in the mornings to get coffee for himself and his wife. Even when she tried to change her schedule she couldn't stop thinking of him. Even though the fact remained it wasn't right and she knew it, yet there was just a connection there that she had trouble breaking. But, despite all the downward slopes that morning she did not go to the diner at her usual time. Nor was it a day in which she was needed at the school house. Which was why she decided to go somewhere where she could think.
Teaching was something that although she couldn't remember when she had started, it felt like second nature. Like she'd been doing it all her life although she couldn't even tell you when she had started teaching. Time had seemed for the longest time not to even be moving forward. She didn't even believe that but Henry, one of her pupils had been the one to tell her about such things. Denial was what she was in about such things as he had said. But unlike most days she wanted to try something a bit different. To break routine as it were.
She couldn't pinpoint what it was about the town that seemed homely, although the people here had vast differences. She didn't want to stick close to the apartment. She wanted to get out and do something. Going on a hike seemed to be a good idea at that particular moment. And so she headed towards the forest, which she couldn't pinpoint it, but it felt like a second home. Home more so than the apartment she lived in did at times. It was almost like a magnetic pull led her here. She did not even feel the need to drive to the woods, not that she cared much. As the walk there wouldn't kill her, or so she led herself to believe.
She did not know how long she had been in the woods, when she suddenly came across what appeared to be a cemetery. What in the world was going on? She thought she'd seen Graham, near one of the tombstones...the mausoleum. She didn't even hesitate. Perhaps she shouldn't go near. Regina could be there. And well the two women had never seen eye to eye. But she wasn't one to give up. She would make sure that Graham was alright before just disappearing back on her hike. Graham didn't seem to hear her when she called out to him the first time. So she quickly but quietly moved towards the mausoleum and towards Graham himself. She cleared her voice before speaking. "Graham? Are--are you alright?" The woman asked with a small smile on her face, placing a hand on his shoulder. Hoping that wouldn't startle him too much.
