General Personality: As an evil queen and villain, Regina was ruthless, cunning, and sought to destroy anyone that got in her way including little Snow White after she spilled a secret. She cared very little for anyone, but herself being quite narcissistic in those years where her only motives were to do harm to others. She held very little dear to her heart and killed without much thought including her own father in the need for vengeance. Manipulative and a master of trickery, Regina was a force to be reckoned with, ruling her people with fear and hatred. Even after taking over Storybrooke, she was cold, distant and it seemed almost incapable of love, but for a child she raised as her own named after the father she murdered. He was perhaps the one light in her heart of darkness though it did little to ease that inner demon. She is certainly a force to be reckoned with and will let nothing stand in the way of what she is hoping to accomplish. Still she's not perfect and as it turns out is starting to see more clearly than she has. Whether she changes for the better has yet to be decided.
History: It was her mother that would start a set of chain reactions to which would lead Regina down into a spiral of darkness. Her mother had never truly been kind to Regina growing up, prepping her into her idea of royalty. She was taught manners, etiquette, and just about everything there was to know about royalty. She was always going on about her own broken future and how she wished better for her darling daughter though she didn't yet know how far her mother would go to procure sure things. Regina though cared little for being a princess spending her days riding her horse and fooling around in the stables. Her mother greatly disproved of such behavior and tried to stamp it out of her. It was in the stables though that she found herself falling for a young lad named Daniel, who tended to the horses of her family estate. She was touched by his caring nature and he was able to give her great tips about riding even if she never seemed able to impress her mother. Unfortunately due to her mother's ideas of love they have to keep their love a secret, despite what they both might want instead. Unbeknownst to Regina, Cora has found herself a target and uses King Leopold's daughter as a gateway to her daughter taking the throne. As it was, Regina had been out riding and just been talking to Daniel when she was caught off guard, by a young girl on a runaway horse.
Acting quickly, Regina gets on her horse and manages to pull the little girl onto her own horse before any harm comes to her. Returning the girl to her father he is overjoyed at the fact that his little girl was saved and surprisingly proposes to Regina who is shocked and upset by the news. She says nothing as her mother sneakily accepts on her behalf, later meeting with Daniel to discuss the turn of events and beg him to take her away. He gives her a ring of his own, they kiss until Regina catches Snow running away and quickly chases after her. She explains to Snow that she doesn't love her father the same way she loves Daniel, asking her to keep it a secret between them. What seems like a solved matter quickly becomes a nightmare when her mother catches her and Daniel getting ready to leave. It seems dear little Snow had betrayed her trust and Regina watched in horror as her lover's heart was ripped from his body and crushed into a pile of ash. Regina was horrified as she rushed to Daniel's side, yelling at her mother as she once more informs her of the opportunity standing before her. She attempts to leave at one point but is stopped by her mother who then takes matters into her own hands and comes in contact with Rumplestiltskin. It was he who filled her head with dark thoughts, hardening her into the dark queen she'd later come to be known as. It was him that set her on a path to darkness, starting with pushing her mother into an enchanted mirror.
Despite what she says to Rumplestiltskin, she finds magic quite thrilling and agrees to become his apprentice as her mother once did before. Course, she was still sworn to marry the King, though it was to be a loveless marriage with neither really committing themselves to the relationship. So in between her duties as Queen and playing stepmother to Snow, Regina takes magic lessons hoping to use this power to bring Daniel back. Sadly though it appears as though she cannot. Yet, a man by the name of Jefferson suggests another way. As it stands, they bring about a doctor by the name of Viktor though the attempts prove to be a failure and thus dies her chances of love. Seeing her mentor with another apprentice, she becomes outraged and rips the girl's heart out to prove to him that she has it in her. As the days wore on, it became clear that Regina was doomed to an unhappy life knowing the King cared little for her compared to his precious daughter. It is after cancelling a magic lesson with Rumple that she meets a fairy named Tinkerbell who claims that she can find someone who can be Regina's second chance of love. Against her fairy laws, she steals pixie dust and attempts to help Regina, who cowardly turns and leaves only catching the tattoo on his arm. It is later on that she helps Maleficent with her own problems after learning that she possesses magic of her own. She ends up giving Regina a small dose of her sleeping curse which she uses on Snow's horse.
A couples years into their relationship and Regina is greeted by a man who so happens to be a Genie. She manipulates him into helping her kill her husband, claiming that she wants to be with him. Instead, she wants nothing of him merely only a means of killing him without laying a finger on her husband. He cannot bear to be without her and ends up cursing himself to become the magic mirror that her tale is so famous for. She later pretends to mourn the dear man's life in an attempt to gain's Snow's trust while she plots something much more sinister. As it stands, she decides to make a deal with the feared Huntsman in hopes that he can do what others cannot. He like so many others before him failed her miserably and in a fit of anger she rips out his heart in place of what should have been Snow White's. A couple little things interfere in her plan like her dear mother trying to get a child and her father being kidnapped by the Queen of hearts, but she handles them in stride. Her hatred of Snow continues to grow every day since the girl ran off and at one point is nearly killed in an attempt to understand their love of her. Course, she's saved by the bane of her existence given she's got a peasant disguise but is surprised by their talk. Things seem to change for a brief moment until they come upon a village of slaughtered people.
Further chaos ensues when she finds herself confronted by Rumpelstiltskin's servant girl who appears to have fallen for the Dark one. Manipulative as always, she suggests that the girl give Rumple a kiss in her own sneaky way which only serves to get her thrown out and later into Regina's welcoming committee who brings her to her tower. A little talk with Rumple after telling him that his precious servant killed herself and things were looking pretty good. Yet her hunt for Snow White continues even as she sidelines as Ursula the Sea-Witch to toy with a certain red hair mermaid. Not to mention the finding of two young children, attempting to adopt them as her own, only to turn them away when they choose their father over her. However, things eventually are back underway when she learns of Snow falling for a certain Prince Charming of her own. Though she tried many times to break the couple apart, it was clear that she would be unable to do so in this world. Not while the people still followed Snow's lead and ultimately attempt to get her to see the error in her ways. Regina doesn't give in though and she spends the next couple of years hashing out a plan to make everyone miserable. It takes a bit of careful planning and a failed attempt before she finally gets her end result sending everyone to the Modern World along with her as their mayor and none of them having their memories. What should have been a revenge well deserved, turned out not exactly as she had planned.
She became easily bored by the same mundane little town and it's people until some strangers came into their little town. It was this charming father and son duo that made Regina wish very much for her own. When she couldn't convince their family, she sought out Mr. Gold who procured her a son of her own who she named Henry. Henry was the one little light in her otherwise dark heart, falling for the sweet boy even if he did turn out to be the savior's son. However, things haven't been all bad with the return of magic to Storybrooke, but that's perhaps only the start of her curse breaking. Oddly enough Regina was quite happy about the return of her magic having missed that extra aid in making sure the townspeople know who she's messing with. Course, she's well aware that she may not be the only one who's magic has returned, but having missed that power it's a small price to pay. She just has to get a hold on controlling it as it's quite different than what she's use to.
