Everybody's got a dark side.
For once Regina was actually tired of being alone as she stared out the window of her house. She had dropped Henry off at School like always and gone to her office to do some work. That and try to figure a way of dealing with the likes of Emma Swan who so happened to be Henry's birth mother. She had tried to politely ask for her to leave Storybrooke and her son, but that seemed to have backfired on her. At least she had her magic back which was a welcomed relief after spending years with no real ability to frighten those around her. Granted, she got a long just fine in making sure those around her knew who was running this town and where their place was. Well most of them with the exception of one in the form of Rumplestiltskin or Mr. Gold as he'd been considered when the townspeople first arrived with false memories. Then again, the town had started to become rather boring to her with everyone forgetting her and thus being unable to gloat over them.
Not exactly how she had envisioned this plan of hers to work, but for a while it had been absolutely marvelous. Knowing that loved ones had been separated from each other without them even knowing. Even Gold had been ripped away from his own love, though it didn't stop her dangling the girl in front of him. Still, it was fun while it had lasted though she suspected Rumplestiltskin would eventually come looking for her. Mostly she had just avoided the man who had once been a great mentor to her while she was under her mother's reign. It was because of him that she even dealt into the world of magic, specifically the darker forms. Yet, she couldn't deny that she hadn't enjoyed it those days under his tutelage until such a time as she out grew him and later became his enemy. She knew it was only a matter of time before he came for her, so she merely bid her time as she did most days. Unless she had some problem to deal with that needed the attention of the mayor, though most were content to look to Miss Swan now. Which left Regina's days mostly free and rather dull as she poured over paperwork and the affairs of running a town. Granted, once could only spend so long in the office before she needed to take a break which she had by heading down to the stables.
When she first knew of them, she had taken to avoiding them at all costs for the sole fact of the memories of times forgotten. She just couldn't bring herself to stand in a stable again after what had happened with her old love, Daniel. Not to mention, she had killed her own horse in an attempt to enact the curse which had failed miserably. So she had denied herself the chance to ride again like she used to for some time. At least until a couple weeks ago feeling that it was perhaps time she tried to move on from his death. A death she had still never truly gotten over, but then again she'd been alone in that grieving period. Still, she had wandered down there all the same, marveling at the horses and finding she missed the feel of it. So she had bought herself a beautiful black thoroughbred she named Echo. After that, she'd become a frequent visitor to the stables finding that Echo helped get her mind off things and allowed her to return to simpler times. He was an excellent horse, and they had grown a strong bond over the days which was where she often turned her attention. Not to mention, she wasn't often the social type and horseback riding was a solo sport on it's own.
True, she brought the isolation on herself, but she normally didn't mind it. She did better alone than she could possibly ever do so in a social lite. She was pleasant enough when dealing with some of the townsfolk when she did venture out, but otherwise she stayed home with Henry. Perhaps one of very few who actually made the difference to the woman who had guarded her heart with dozens of layers. He was her pride and joy and she'd do anything to ensure his happiness. Currently, though she seemed to be pushing him further into the arms of his other mother. A thought which soured her mood as she continued to stare out the window as the rain coated the streets in a light sprinkling. She sighed gently as her thoughts poured over in her head wondering what she was going to do now. It was already noon and she hadn't eaten since that morning, but she paid little attention to her stomach. For once she actually wished for some company. Granted, there was one other person that didn't seem quite as bothered by Regina's presence as she glanced at the phone.
As it stood, Regina had been putting some of her time and energy towards the Sheriff of Storybrooke; Graham. He was handsome enough and well it was no wonder considering she'd ripped his heart out ages ago. Not exactly a good way to build any type of relationship, but she didn't need a commitment. She merely used him to take out her sexual needs, though not without some friendly talk between them. It wasn't perfect or healthy by any means, but it was something to distract her. Today, though, she had felt different after calling him up and offering him to have lunch with her at her house. He seemed to have agreed and so it was just a matter of time before he arrived. The lasagna was already in the oven cooking while she waited for her guest, sipping her glass of wine as she stared at the tree, Emma had destroyed.
