General Personality: Merida has all the natural traits befitting a warrior or the house of Gryffindor(if she were ever sorted). Daring, bold, stubborn and very rebellious are all just parts of her overall persona. Despite being a Queen in the Enchanted Realm, Merida is perhaps not quite what you would think of when the word 'princess' comes up. If anything she's more tomboy than girl preferring to get her hands messy and learn to shoot a bow. She has no time for princess lessons and certainly doesn't care for the traditions of her home country. If anything she is strongly opinionated, openly rebelling against traditions and making a stance towards a change she thinks appropriate for her Kingdom. On top of that is the need to prove herself to those around her, particularly the males that don't believe a woman can rule. She may seem like she's a vulnerable little girl, but she's a got a deadly aim with a bow and isn't afraid to get down to a brawl if necessary. Still, she's not without her faults as she tends to be at times recklessly impulsive and willing to throw down her life for those she cares about. If anyone messes with the ones she loves, she's sure to make sure they pay and yet willing to show a certain mercy at times. Not to mention her temper that can sometimes get her in a bad situation. In terms of her counterpart, Fallon she is much the same way. Though Fallon tends to be a bit more bossy and willing to take things such as training to the extreme, doing anything to get her pupils to learn what is needed. Fallon also tends to have an aversion to water and her temper isn't as noticeable as Merida. Otherwise, they're pretty much one and the same.
Fairy Tale History: Merida grew up well loved by her adoring parents and yet from the first time she opened her eyes, you could tell that she would be destined to become Daddy's little girl. Still, for the most part, she was well cared for with the fact that she was the princess of the Dunbroch. On top of that fact was that she was always very curious, wandering off to chase whatever caught her attention like butterflies or birds. Her mother never really encouraged this side of her quite like her father who made sure to teach her how best to protect herself. By the time she was six she had already started with her training in archery as her father had insisted knowing that it was vital for her to defend herself. Her mother thought perhaps it was a bit improper for a young princess to learn such traits, but she said nothing on the matter. There would be plenty of time to teach the young girl the finer points of being royalty. It was also at the age of six that their small family was attacked by a large bear. Her father attempting to save his wife and daughter at the cost of losing his foot. A tale which became a sort of legend around the kingdom even if her father did at times attempt to overexaggerate his story to anyone who would listen. As the years passed, Merida grew to be a beautiful young lady which meant that it was time for her mother to intervene.
Of course, Merida fought very hard against her mother's teachings given how she disliked the customs of their land. She wanted nothing to do with manners of etiquette preferring to spend her time learning archery, swordsmanship. More importantly she wanted to become a soldier, not a fancy dressed up princess. That wasn't the way she envisioned her life even when her three young brothers entered into her life. Merida took to the three of them immediately doing whatever she could to protect the as best she could. They quickly become her accomplices in a number of her schemes and troublesome ways. Course, it was always a bargain with those threes, but they were good to her. Still she attempts to balance her life to the best of her abilities even if she finds it rather difficult. Her mother being unbearable at times and finding as though she's never understood. That this wasn't the ideal life for the young girl who wanted adventure and to be a soldier like her father. As the years progress though she finds herself in constant argument with her mother about the idea of an arranged marriage.
After all it was customary for her to be given away to a suitor evenly matched to their son or daughter. Merida though was horrified of the idea that she would have to go through with this. How could she marry a man she had just met? No, if she was marrying anyone she wanted it to be out of love, not necessity. Her father was certainly no help in that matter and her brothers were lucky to avoid the ideas of marriage for the current time. She even attempted to sabotage her own choosing ceremony which only seemed to make her mother angrier. After a particularly bad fight, Merida took off in a blind ride through the forest with her loving shire stallion, Angus. However, she had heard stirrings of a man that might be able to be of help to the young girl and so she turned her thoughts to the Dark One. Remembering what she had heard of the tales, she stopped her horse and attempted to summon him to her. He appeared in front of her and she attempted to explain the situation to her. Of course, the dark one wasn't without his price in exchange for a surprisingly delicious treat which he said would change her fate.
Bringing it home with her, Merida attempted once more to get her mother to see reason. When that failed, she offered the tasty treat watching with horror as her mother turned into a bear. It was like something out of a nightmare as she stood there in horror, saved only by her father as he attempted to protect his daughter. Merida tried to stop him though as her 'mother' took off out of the castle and into the woods. She of course, attempts to contact the Dark One wishing for him to fix this, but he tells her that only she can fix this by amending the bond that had been torn by pride. Unfortunately, Merida had bigger problems to deal with there was a siege on the castle. Merida attempts to help aid her father, but her bow shoots sort of her attacker as she watches in horror as her father is killed before her. It was that moment when Merida's sole focus became ruling the Kingdom that she had once claimed to not have even wanted. However, with both her parents gone and her three brothers too young, it fell into her hands and she had to do what was best. To make matters worse, due to her unwillingness to support the tradition and marry one of her three suitors, they eventually take charge and kidnap her younger brothers. It was as the curse swarmed over the Enchanted Realm that Merida spent her days looking for a way to help bother her brothers and her mother.
Storybrooke History: For as long as Fallon Archer could remember, she'd always been a self-defense teacher helping others who needed to learn how to defend themselves. Of her memories, most of them appeared rather foggy, but she tended to make up a sort of story from what memories she did have. She was raised by two loving parents who treasured her beyond anything she could even imagine. It seemed like the best of times those moments just the three of them at the moment. She did well in school even if her true talents lay in gym class and the sports division. Of course, she loved doing extracurricular activities excited by the prospects of archery and horseback riding in which her parents bought her a lovely horse. She was a natural in the saddle and even with the horses, in general, occasionally helping people with their problem horses as a sort of hobby. She was eighteen when her parents mysteriously vanished, making her believe they were taken or something else. Oddly enough it was right around when her mother had proposed the idea of an arranged marriage which Fallon had hated. She moved into a friend's house and enjoyed her time with them, having lots of good times. After her friend was attacked by an ex-boyfriend, Fallon channeled her thoughts into self defense training making sure the same thing wouldn't happen to her. Whether it was hand to hand combat, with a sword or even archery, Fallon made sure that she wouldn't be taken for granted. Not long after she had gotten herself into a power weapon, she started teaching others about how to defend themselves. It's all she has ever known even if at times she feels as though there is perhaps more to her life.
