hands of time DAY AFTER DAY, LIKE A LIFETIME AWAY, I KEEP HOLDIN' ON Okay, so Graham lied to Emma about why he needed the night shift. Originally his plan was to help out at the shelter. He helped out there fairly often, seeing as he felt an attachment to animals, especially dogs for some reason, but all animals in general. It felt like he was back home when he volunteered at the animal shelter, that he was around those who were truly his family, not the people there, but all of the animals. It was a stupid feeling, he knew, but he still felt it nonetheless. However, he received a call and Regina wanted him to come over. If anyone knew anything about their relationship, it was like he was her pet. She called, he answered. He couldn’t resist answering her call. He couldn’t resist going over, even though if Emma were to find out he would be in big trouble. And of course, she found out. She found him climbing out the window. She looked at him with disgust, with shock, with… well, his mind perceived it as hate, though logically it probably wasn’t it was probably just disappointment, but it still took him. It shook him to his view core, the look she gave him and he felt so… guilty. It was so powerful, he didn’t think he could feel that way, ever. It was one of those rare emotions that he felt when she was around him. It was one of those things he wanted to feel more of, emotions in general, even if they hurt. He was craving just feeling something and Regina wasn’t fulfilling that need, but just being around Emma fulfilled it for him. Graham had gotten a box of donuts, hoping to apologize to her. Though it was going take more than donuts to fix this. He wasn’t sure what he was going to say, but he felt like when he was around her he would be able to speak from his heart. If he had a heart. He felt like he was a heartless, cold monster at this point. He wanted to make it up to her. He wanted to see her smile again, and he hoped… he hoped he could repair their relationship. So here he was, walking into the sheriff station with a box of donuts, hoping that Emma would be inside. 389 WORDS |

I'm not just a SaviorAfter the revelations from last night and her later talk with Killian, Emma was pretty tired and wanted nothing to do with the lead sheriff of Storybrooke. True, Killian had attempted to help her make sense of her emotions and they'd ended up having a rather pleasant enough talk. Still, she had decided to come into work after her alarm on her phone decided to give her a cruel awakening. She really didn't want to go into work, but it was her job and sometimes you had to work with people you just didn't like. Besides, it was pretty much the only thing she was really good at. She liked finding people and the badge made her feel important which was something she hadn't felt in the longest time. If anything her life had revolved around the fact that she was nothing to no one. A foster child and a thief who took what the world gave her. Getting locked up in prison had managed to change her perspective on things though and she'd used her tracking abilities and other skills to hunt people down. It paid well enough and it gave her a sense of accomplishment which she supposed was why she liked being a detective. To show that she could be more than just a criminal and prove to Henry that he could be proud to call her 'Mum'.
It seemed as though that was how most of the tasks ahead of her came to be. Even if she didn't like dealing with some of the tasks set out for her, she always seemed to come to do it anyways thinking about her son. Hard to believe he was becoming the biggest part of her life in such a few short weeks. Sort of like Killian and even Graham for a short time even if she would never admit such things to either of the two men. Granted, Graham was sort of the back burner of her thoughts as she attempted to get dressed and changed into something more appropriate for work. If she was lucky, he would leave her alone since it wasn't even his shift now that she had made sure to point out she was done covering his night ones. He could find someone else to cover those nights because he wasn't going to get involved. She still didn't know what she was going to do about Henry though even if she felt like he should be aware of the situation. Well, not really, but it just seemed wrong to be doing such a thing while a child lay sleeping in it's bed blissfully unaware. It bothered her far more than she would like to admit as she had a quick shower and dressed in a simple casual outfit accessorized with her red leather jacket. Satisfied, she decided to make her way down and out of Mary Margaret's apartment.
Of course, that was after she attempted to toss out Snow's beautiful bouquet of flowers thinking they were from Graham. She had quickly apologized though Mary seemed not to mind. Even if the flowers were slightly crushed by the way she had just tossed them into the trash bin. She sighed contently making her way to her car and driving it back over towards the sheriff station finding she enjoyed the simple repetitive motion of having a schedule. The first time she'd even really had a stable job at this point in her lifetime with a fixed pay and everything. She didn't really need the money, but she did need the distraction away from her troubles which currently meant her boss. If she was lucky though Graham would simply leave her alone and allow her some piece of mind while she sorted out her feelings. She certainly didn't think she'd see him anyways considering she had the day shifts anyways, hoping to avoid him at all costs. Arriving at the station she sighed heavily her heart suddenly not into the job at the current moment as last night's memories assaulted her. She could feel a stray tear slide down her face, but she quickly swiped it away knowing she had work to do. If she was lucky, she could do the few things she had to do in the office and then take the cop car out for her patrol like always.
That was what she had liked to have hoped for as she stepped from her own vehicle and slowly made her way inside. For now she was going to act as though none of this had even happened. That she hadn't even felt the slightest part of her heart break after catching him in the act of leaving Regina's house. That he hadn't lied right to her face and she'd not even caught him. Probably one of the biggest pet peeves she had going for her. She hated people lying to her face about things. It made it really hard to tell just who she could trust in this world. Her own trusts issues already making up a good part of her reasoning behind the cold, distant and guarded persona she showed to people. Well, people who weren't her son or perhaps those she considered her closest of friends. Walking into the station, she proceeded to get her badge and gun from their place in the department and grabbed some water from the tap. Sitting down at her desk she decided to look over some paperwork quickly before making her way out on her patrol, unaware that her boss had surprised her with his appearance.

hands of time DAY AFTER DAY, LIKE A LIFETIME AWAY, I KEEP HOLDIN' ON Graham cared about Emma. She was probably the only person who he actually felt something for, someone who made him feel something. It felt like something outside his body was leaping when he was around her. He cared about her. And it felt so strong because he hadn’t ever really cared for someone so much he would want to punch anyone who even tried to hurt her. Even if they were Mr. Gold. Regina was different, though he wouldn’t stop himself if there was no other way. Which was surprising to him to think, because he never would do anything contrary to what Regina ordered him to do before meeting Emma. And ever after meeting Emma, it took a bit of time for him to come to turns with the fact he felt these strange feeling for her. However, it wasn’t like he was going to pursue them right now. After all, Emma was currently in the stage of hating him. Because he lied to her. He didn’t blame her. And he expected the donuts to be shoved right in his face, especially since, like an idiot, it was the same peace offering he offered when he lied to her. “Emma?” Graham slowly made his way towards her, showing his present to her, and setting the box next to her. “I’m sorry.” He might as well cut right to the chase. Graham was never one to mince words, to beat around the bush. He was a much more straightforward type of man. He didn’t like to delay, as there was no reason, because it would get out eventually. There was no need to be scared, as he couldn’t really feel scared, not really. Well, when he was around Emma, for some reason he could. And he could feel his heart pounding just a little quicker when he saw her, feeling nervous for the first time in a long time. “I wanted to apologize. For lying to you. I didn’t mean to… lie. It was the original plan to help at the shelter, but… then Regina called and I…” He trailed off. He knew that she knew the rest of it. There was no need in wasting words on it. He pressed his lips together and took a moment before continuing. “I’m sorry. I really am, Emma. I do not want this… to come between us.”

I'm not just a SaviorAt some point, Emma had moved to sit down in the chair by her desk while she skimmed over a few reports she'd had to follow up on. She was actually quite content in this manner as she studied the papers in her hand only to look up when she felt as though she were being watched. She wasn't wrong when she noticed Graham making his way towards her, feeling herself inwardly groan at the sight of him. This was exactly what she hadn't wanted at this moment, but it appeared as though she had no choice. Still, she should have known better than to think he would give her space. That he would allow her to work without having to deal with him who she wasn't happy with. He'd lied to her first and foremost which had really hurt Emma, but he'd also inadvertently broken her heart. However, she wasn't about to show any of these emotions other than the neutral mask that had graced her face as a mental way of keeping him back. Putting up walls to her heart to avoid bringing up just how strongly last night had affected her to the point she wanted a drink. Not something she normally even indulged in all the time except when it was a social event or special occasion. Yes, definitely something she didn't want to discuss with the sheriff.
Hearing his name on her lips made her bit her own as she turned her attention back to the paperwork in front of her. If she could just make sure it was all in order then she could leave sooner. Start her patrol as it were and thus avoid this conversation that Graham no doubt wished to pursue. As it was he was quick to come over her as if he knew how much she wanted to be rid of him for the time being. However, it wasn't the way in which he approached her that was most infuriating, but the fact that he was presenting her with another box of donuts. Normally, donuts wouldn't have fazed her before, but given the circumstances it was rather offensive to the blonde woman. Particularly when this mess had started with a box of donuts and a small request that had seemed so innocent at the moment. Never did she imagine that he would con her into doing his night shift just so he could shack up with Regina of all people. Then again, she supposed it was his own business what he did with that woman, but at the same time she felt her heart torn apart by this fact. Not to mention that she felt as though she had to be there for Henry who she felt truly sorry for. She couldn't even begin to imagine that Regina could do that to a boy she so clearly claimed to love.
Sure, sexual desires were a part of being human and everything else, but the least Regina could do was well, not during the night while her son laying sleeping in his room. Who knew what Henry was actually listening in knowing there were time Emma herself would fake sleep so as to listen to her foster families and the possible discussions of her leaving. Either way, they couldn't be completely sure that Henry was asleep unless Regina was drugging him. That didn't sit well with Emma as Graham turned to address her after setting the donuts down. If he thought a bunch of bear claws were going to soften the blow of what had occurred, he was sadly mistaken. Sure, Emma had her ability to forgive a lot of things, but she hated lying and she hated herself for even thinking she stood a chance. Mostly her mind was just a mixture of emotions with each looking to fight to take the upper hand in her mind. Still, hearing the apology on his lips gave her pause as she looked to him setting her papers down and folding her arms over her chest. At least, he was going to get right to his point instead of just trying to sugar coat the situation. So for that fact alone she would sit and listen to what he had to say. However, that didn't mean she was going to just forgive him because he gave her donuts and an apology.
"And you answered. Yes. I got that point loud and clear. And while I approve of the quick apology it doesn't change much. If you had just told me what was going on," replied Emma as she stood up from her chair.
Giving him a hard look and yet unable to deny the donuts that sat on her desk. A lesser girl may have just taken the donuts and taken his apology, but Emma was beyond hurt by all of this. That for him to think he could buy her affections back were hitting just below the belt. He acted like he didn't have a choice when he had plenty of choices. She grew quiet though when he mentioned hoping that this wouldn't be affecting whatever was between them.
"If you're intending to buy back my affections, you're not doing a very good job. I mean..how could you even do that to Henry," insisted Emma, feeling like she had to defend her son against their petty choices. She would have at least waited for a time when he wasn't around before such thoughts came to her mind. He was barely 10 and definitely didn't need to be privileged to Regina's sexual life. She could already feel herself getting sick again at the thoughts.
that's only half of who I am.
