Colin had power. This was one thing that he was certain of. He did not know where it came from, or how he had come to have it, but he definitely had it. He had spent several days cleaning up his apartment after a recent fiasco, and had also been out in the woods attempting to do various things that superheroes did. So far, it seemed as if he had overly acute senses, something he had learned when almost being hit by a car, then having avoided a falling tree that, he was loathe to admit, he had dropped nearly on top of himself.
He also had some telekinetic-like abilities. He could move things, though it was still difficult and he had to concentrate a bit, but he was very efficient at blowing things up. More on accident than actually blowing anything up on purpose, but still, he really, really blew things up. At first it freaked him out, naturally, but since he was not harming himself or anyone else he didn't care as much anymore. Aside from the various things he had hit himself with accidentally, or the instances like the aforementioned falling tree, Colin kinda felt like a badass.
He didn't really have any friends, though he had recalled that boy that had sold him flowers not too long ago. Wanting to share with someone his origin story, Colin was now shamefully walking/skipping down the street. It is at this moment I would like to explain that Colin, by no accounts other than epic, godlike powers, is Colin cool. Then again, having the powers of the forever boy is nothing to snicker at, so if the boy wants to skip, than skip he shall. As he neared the shop Colin's mind drifted to the possibility that the
Oliver boy would not appreciate his new found skills, and would instead think he was some kind of freak. This worried Colin, and he began to mope slightly. His mind swirling down and down, Colin began mindlessly kicking a rock, not a large rock, more the size of a golf ball than anything, down the street. He did this for almost an entire block until he was across the street from his destination. It was then that Colin's mental self destruction hit a point where he was mentally accusing Oliver of possibly being no fun without even getting to tell him about the powers.
He blew out a large lung full of air and kicked the stone towards the shop, feeling his anger seemingly leave his body through his foot and into the rock. We watched in horror as time seemingly stood still, thanks to his off the chart reflexes and awareness. He reached out as if the grab the stone, though it was too far away. He watched in horror as the rock sailed through the front window, shattering it. His eyes widened and he covered his mouth with both hands as he stared at the damage he had done.
He quickly turned and stared up at the sky, rocking back and forth on his heels with his hands behind him, whistling a silly tune as he pretended to not see what had gone on. |
